oh my blog!

lean + clean blogging: matt marshall's personal site

if you have been following me for a while now, you might have gotten the idea that i am a fan of simple and minimal sites. i try to pretend that i am a pragmatic utilitarian type person, alas, i am a hoarder and maximalist by nature. that might be why i am drawn towards minimalist sites. but i digress, and present to you, yet another lean, clean, mean blogging scene: matt marshall's personal site.

matt describes his design philosophy as minimalism, but notes:

Minimalism aside, I feel that the web is now quite a noisy and aggressive place to be. I hate it when I visit a site and it’s basically unreadable because of all of the pop-ups, the content loads slowly because it’s being loaded via JavaScript (if it loads at all), and there’s lots of very heavy CSS.

fair enough matt. this year, i would like to improve on accessibility on all my websites. my maximalism is a hard habit to break, but i find inspiration in matt's dedication to his philosophy.

beyond philosophy, matt's blog and site are prime examples of personal blogs and the power of writing for oneself. he and i share plenty of ideas and things in common, and i like getting a peek into his world now and then. head over to matt's blog for the excellence in minimalist design, and stay for the inspiring personal blog and technical expertise. oh, also interesting: the site is bilingual in english and esperanto!
