like buttered toast: the plain text project blog
the plain text project was scott nesbitt's digital shrine for everything plain text. it is a celebration of the fact that sometimes boring can be great! boring things actually matter, as scott notes in his first post:
plain text might be boring. It might seem old fashioned. but it still matters. far more than most of us realize.
the blog itself, or what's left of it, is plain, simple, and simply delightful. it is a blog where you can feel the space around each word. as with plain text, there is breathing room for each letter and word, and that leaves room for you to breathe. the plain text project is a meditation on straightforward typography, and one i feel is particularly meaningful for our times of digital complexities.
Scott ended the project because he felt he was going in circles ... perhaps there is only so much you can say and write about plain text before you start to feel you are repeating yourself? but i could read multiple books on it. that the project has ended doesn't really matter; the blog articles are kept in their entirety, and it now reads like a fine piece of digital literature.
do yourself a favour and read up on some plain text from a place of wisdom and love.
