somewhat spectral itself, spectres of control by felix maschewski and anna-verena nosthoff, is a four-post blog with its posts ranging from march 27, 2021 to february 18, 2026. the last post celebrates the release of nosthoff's book 'kybernetik und kritik. eine theorie digitaler regierungskunst'. of the four posts, only two are in english: 'on the spectrality of cats in cyberspace' & 'what are the specters of control?'. i must say, both of these posts are golden, even if a little dated in our quick-moving technological terrorscape.

in what are the specters of control?' we get a fair warning that we are being haunted by the phantasms of our own making:

digital ghosts come in many forms and shapes, and there are many of them, haunting us in various ways. in any case, these are the spectres of control––or some of them, the list is long.

the post gives us an idea of how design, apps, platforms, and security vulnerabilities are all ghosts haunting us. to keep this post short, i will let you explore some of their fun thought bombs yourself. check out their philosophical yet fun musings and truths.
